To survive in the modern world, we need the assurance that it is orderly, explainable, ours. But once we doubt the familiar, once we suspect the ordinary of being illusory, that suspicion never lets go: reality keeps offering to play, the everyday landscape holds phantom visions and unpredictable glitches. Unknown Exception — a programming term for an unforeseen deviation, a system failure, the willfulness of technology. The series began as a ritual: repeated dusk visits to a place between park and forest, anomalies staged with my own body and simple light structures, the monotony of takes pulling me into trance — into a shapeless figure darting through near-total darkness. Photography returned to what is essentially photographic: the ability to record what the human eye cannot perceive.
